A CLINICAL STUDY ON EFFECT OF VASANTIKA VAMANA- THERAPEUTIC EMESIS IN SPRING SEASON
Dr. Savita Wali and Dr. Madhu Ranjan*
ABSTRACT The definition of health in Ayurveda is extensive, and even the World Health Organization has accepted this fact. Tridosha i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha also called Tristhuna (pillars), are the functional units governing the physiological functions of the human body. A balanced state of Tridosha is termed as healthy and any deviation in balance leads to disease. External factors like climatic heat, cold weather and rain also impact Dosha. The Doshas tend to accumulate and increase in some seasons beyond the level of acceptance and therefore are need to be removed from the body. Panchakarma is the most integral part of Ayurvedic management. It serves as a precautionary, promotive, conservative, therapeutic, and reconstructive treatment. Vasant Rutu (Spring season) starts with the aggravation of Kapha Dosha which has been already accumulated in Shishir Rutu (Winter season). It leads to the starting of various Kaphaja disorders like cough, bronchial asthma, cold etc. Vamana Karma (Therapeutic emesis) is mainly indicated in Vasant Rutu to prevent Kaphaja Vyadhis. This article enlightens about the importance of Vamana Karma w.s.r to Vasantika Vamana (detoxification therapy in spring season) and its mode of action. A total of 12 volunteers were registered in this study. Assessment of symptoms of these diseases is done before starting Deepana and Pachana and after Vamana Karma is analysed statistically. Following Vamana Karma, statistically significant improvements are observed in the symptoms of these diseases. Keywords: Kapha Dosha, Rutu, Rutushodhana, Vamana Karma, Therapeutic emesis, Shishira Rutu, Spring Season, Detoxification therapy. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
