Abstract

AN AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF EPISTAXIS: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Epistaxis or nose bleeds is the commonest complain which can causeof life threating. Its prevalence cannot be exactly known as most casesare self-limited and patients usually seek medical attention only whenthe problem is either recurrent or severe in nature, As per Ayurvedaclassics this condition can be corelated with Nasagata Raktapitta.Which is caused by vitiation of Pitta Dosha in Rakta Dhatu (blood).Objective of this case study was to observe the efficacy of Ayurvedictreatment in the management of Nasagata Raktapitta (epistaxis).Present study was conducted on 39 year old female patient of epistaxisin the OPD of Shalakya tantra, ITRA. Patients with the complaining ofbleeding from nose since 4-5 months with Associated complain severeacidity and burning sensation in sole. History and examination lead todiagnosis epistaxis (Nasagata Raktapitta) so patient was treated withDurva Svarasa Nasya and Avipattikar churna orally. Remarkable result was observed in theform of improvement in chief completion of the patient.
