CLINICAL EVALUATION OF GUGGULU BIBHITAKI KSHARA-SUTRA IN BHAGANDARA

ABSTRACT

Ayurved is the treasure of treatments for various diseases. It is the oldest traditional medicinal science available on earth. It compiles many diseases that occur due to a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy dietary habits, mental stress, etc. These causative factors lead to vitiation of Dosha in Mahasrotasa and produce many ano-rectal disorders. One of them, Bhagandara disease is becoming more prevalent in ano-rectal disorders. It is described as a Mahagada in Ayurvedic science. For its management, many treatment modalities are available in different sciences, but none is as effective as Kshara-sutra procedure of Ayurvedic science. It is a novel drug delivery system which is a minimally invasive para-surgical procedure in Ayurvedic science. It gets popularity due to its good result without recurrence rate and complications. In the present research work, the Guggulu Bibhitaki Kshara-sutra application was done for the management of Bhagandara disease. 17 diagnosed cases of Bhagandara were selected from OPD
and IPD of P.G. Department of Shalya Tantra, Rishikul Campus, Uttarakhand Ayurved University, Haridwar (U.K.), India. The result showed significant relief in subjective and objective parameters along with a complete cure. No complications were observed in this clinical study with follow up period.
