ABSTRACT
Siddha system of medicine also known as siddha vaidhya in India. It is the oldest among the Indian medical system. This system not only cures diseases but it also prevents disease. Metals are converted into medicinal compounds in powder form of solid components of high potency. Nowadays people are very much attracted towards Siddha medicine due to minimal side effects of the drug. The scientific basis of siddha medicine is reinforced from the following evidence of knowledge and scientific spirit. The understanding about the medicinal properties of herbs and Minerals. The concept of purification of drugs, defining the shelf life of end products, preserving medicines in suitable containers. The methods of purification of any raw drug invented by the siddhars are indisputable, because without the prescribed purification none of the medicine can be prepared successfully. I have
selected PADIKITHALAGA PARPAM in the siddha literature ‘Kaikanda anupoga vaidhya perungkural’, polymineral formulation of very effective medicine for respiratory disorders. It was determined that padikithalaga parpam contains ferrous iron, calcium, sulphate, and chloride which improved therapeutic action based on their biochemical analysis.
