CURRENT STATUS AND CHALLENGES OF ORAL INSULIN PREPARATIONS

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The objective of this study is to investigate current status and challenges of oral insulin preparations. Methods: The databases including Pubmed and Scifinder were searched, and the literatures were analyzed. Results: Based on the published literature, this article expounds the current status of oral insulin and its preparations, as well as the difficulties and challenges. Conclusions: Several oral insulin delivery systems have shown great efficacy in the treatment of diabetes; however, the safety, efficacy, and reproducibility of these new technologies in manufacturing techniques also need to be further improved and thoroughly evaluated.
