ABSTRACT
The science of Ayurveda originated with the need to understand and cure diseases and to maintain the health of Human being. This basic Ayurveda is best explained in Sanskrit phase- “swasthasya swasthyarakshanam aaturasya vyadhiparimokshaha”. The correct diagnosis of a disease is essential for curing diseases. Science of Ayurveda is based on Tridosha theory (Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas). Ayurveda focuses on diagnosis and treatment aspects. Tridosha vaishamya (vitiation of Tridosha) can occur in the form of vruddhi, kshaya and prakopa. Vaishamya takes place in two ways swabhavika or prakruta and aswabhavika or vaikarika. These various states of Tridosha vaishamya manifest because of particular causes or nidanas. Dosha vaishamya is manifested in the form of lakshanas. It is said a disease will not manifest without the involvement of doshas. Hence it is very important to know the general dosha prakopa nidanas or karanas responsible for the formation of the disease. So in this article
an attempt has been made to throw light on samanya dosha prakopaka nidanas.
