ABSTRACT
Antibiotics are drugs that kill bacteria germs and can only treat sickness caused by bacteria, also known as a bacterial infection. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections only. This includes infections such as bloodstream infections, skin abscess impetigo, bacterial pneumonia, urinary tract infections, streptococcal pharyngitis and some middle ear infections. Cefixime is a third-Generation Cephalosporin Antibiotic for oral administration. Cefixime used to treat short bacterial Infection diseases, such as bronchitis, gonorrhea, and infections of the ears, throat, and urinary tract. Cefixime is one of the antibiotic drugs which is produce bactericidal action. It inhibits cell wall synthesis and cross-linking of the peptidoglycan. This is crucial for bacterial cell structure integrity, which results in cell lysis. This review provides information about different analytical methods for estimating Cefixime individually such as UV spectrophotometry, HPTLC, HPLC, and LC-MS. All reported methods were found to be simple, accurate, economical, precise, and reproducible. This review focuses on the recent analytical method development of Cefixime. It also includes a stability-indicating analytical method for determining Cefixime.
Keywords: Antibiotic, Cefixime, ?-lactam, Ultraviolet spectroscopy.
