ABSTRACT
Ayurveda Pharmaceutics deals with designing of various formulations viz., juices, decoctions, lipid preparations, asava- arishta, etc. Many formulations for external applications are also emphasized like lepa (anointments), malahara (ointments), etc. Modifications of new dosage forms are the need to reach the end users to make preparations user compatible. Nalpamaradi taila is a formulation mentioned for various skin disorders like Tvagroga (Skin disease), Visarpa (Erysipelas), Kushtha (Diseases of skin), Pama (Eczema), Kandu (Itching), Pidaka (Boil/Carbuncle), etc. For easy application it was modified into a malahara (ointment) and Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) was carried out. The Nalpamaradi malahara was brown in colour and smooth in consistency. The GCMS showed 10 peaks at 13.9, 14.3, 15.9, 16.8 and 18.5 retention time.
