ABSTRACT

Antibacterial resistance is a serious health problem that is, currently occurring, therefore the use of traditional medicine is beginning to develop to overcome antibacterial resistance. Pasote plant (Dysphania ambrosioides L.) is a plant belonging to the Amaranthaceae family. In addition to being used as a food ingredient, it has been reported that this plant acts as a cure for various diseases, therefore a study was conducted aimed at determining the antibacterial activity of Pasote leaf extract (Dysphania ambrosioides L.) obtained from Minahasa against Escherichia and Staphylococcus aureus. The sample was extracted by maceration using ethanol as solvent. Antibacterial activity was tested on extracts with concentrations of 50%, 75%, and 100% by disc diffusion method. The average diameter yield of the extract inhibition zone in Escherichia was 7.83, 8.83, and 9.83, respectively.
