PCOS AND HERBAL HEALING- A SYSTEMATIC SURVEY

ABSTRACT
Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder characterized by reproductive hormonal imbalance among woman of reproductive age. The condition which involves the production of abnormal amount of androgens by the ovaries. The word polycystic indicates the presence of numerous small cysts (fluid filled sacs) that may formed in the ovaries. Various treatment methods are used to cure this disorder including conventional drugs as well as herbal medicines. Objective: This research aimed to assess the impact of certain plant remedies on mitigating PCOS in woman native to some areas of state Kerala. Materials and Method: To conduct this study a
symptomatic survey was performed through online platform among woman at age of reproduction. The questionnaire of multiple choice was prepared And programmed using Google forms, from 30 August 2023 to 15 September 2023 in English language. Result and Discussion: A total of 107 responses were analyzed from the females. Out of which about 52% of woman depends on both modern medicine and herbal remedies. Fenugreek, cinnamon, turmeric, amla are most extensively used herbs for subsiding PCOS by the woman in this area. Conclusion: The results of this research revealed that the most preferred herbs are flax seeds and turmeric. So evidences suggest that these drugs are having variability and efficacy in treatments associated with PCOS.
