COMMON FACTORS BETWEEN KOTHA AND TAMAKA SWASA: A REVIEW ARTICLE

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is the oldest system of medicine which comprises detailed study of diseases and their treatment in a unique way. Kotha is mentioned in Ayurveda as one among the Twak Vikara. Most of the acharayas have explained Sheetapitta, Udarda and Kotha under a single chapter because of almost similar symptomatology. In comparision to symptomatology, Urticaria is quite similar to Kotha. Whereas, Tamaka Swasa is one among the Pranavaha Srotho Vikara. The signs and symptoms of Tamaka swasa are similar to bronchial asthma in modern science. Urticaria is an allergic condition and the most common asthma triggers include allergies. In this study an attempt is made to find out how Kotha and Tamaka swasa are inter linked. And further an attempt is made to study the nidana and lakshana of kotha and tamaka swasa
with relation to changes in CBC, IgE, AEC.
