ABSTRACT
Ayurveda the traditional system of medicine in India, provides a holistic approach to understanding and managing health conditions, including hypertension. About 1.13 billion people worldwide suffer from hypertension, so normalizing abnormally high blood pressure is a difficult task. According to Ayurveda, hypertension is often associated with an imbalance in the Doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. When Vata is imbalanced, it can lead to disturbances in the flow of Prana (Life force energy) and affect the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system. This imbalance can contribute to an increase in blood pressure. Such as meditation, gentle yoga, and calming herbs. Pitta, representing the fire element, is associated with heat and intensity. An excess of Pitta may contribute to inflammation and increased blood pressure. Ayurvedic recommendations for balancing Pitta. Ayurvedic management of hypertension involves a comprehensive approach. Brahmi vati and Sarpagandha vati etc. are some commonly used Ayurvedic formulations for managing hypertension. Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) is known for its calming effects on the mind, while Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentina) is believed to have blood pressure-lowering properties. Incorporating regular exercise, particularly activities that promote relaxation and reduce stress, is essential. Practices like Pranayama (Breath control) and meditation can be beneficial in calming the mind and balancing energy. Following a balanced diet that aligns with your dominant Dosha and includes foods with cooling properties can help in managing hypertension. Integrating Ayurvedic principles with conventional medical care can provide a holistic approach to managing hypertension.
