Abstract

NANOPARTICLES AND CYTOTOXICITY STUDY: A REVIEW

Navneet Kumar Verma*, Asheesh Kumar Singh, Himanshu Sharma and Vinay Pratap Singh

ABSTRACT

There are over a thousand different types of nanoparticles known today, yet there are no clearly established rules for assessing their potential toxicity and controlling their exposure. A nanoparticle's mode of penetration, as well as features such as chemistry, chemical composition, size, shape or morphology, surface charge, and area, can all influence its biological activity and effectiveness. Certain qualities can result in either safe or harmful particles. As nanoparticles are used more often, human exposure to them is unavoidable; thus, nanotoxicology research is garnering increased focus. Despite the fact that the number of nanoparticle kinds and uses is rising, studies to explain the effects of nanoparticles after exposure and to address their potential toxicity are rather rare. Nanoparticles are being used in the medical field as therapeutic and diagnostic instruments to aid in the
identification, understanding, and treatment of human diseases. Because deliberate touch or ingestion of nanoparticles is required for medical exposure, it is critical to understand the properties of these particles and how they influence the body prior to clinical application. This paper provides an overview of the in vitro cytotoxicity data on three types of nanoparticles that are currently available.

Keywords: Nanoparticles, Toxicity. Potential Toxicity.
