AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF GARBHSRAVI VANDHYA W.S.R (GESTATIONAL THYROTOXICOSIS) – A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Recurrent pregnancy loss is defined as two or more consecutive pregnancy losses before 20 weeks of gestation and affects 1% of couples trying to conceive. To have a successful motherhood, continuation of pregnancy till term is as important as achieving conception. But sometimes the fetus will be expelled out of the womb before the period of viability. This phenomenon can be correlated in Garbhsravi Vandhya as mentioned by Acharya Harita. It is a heterogeneous condition with several possible underlying causes. And hyperthyroidism in pregnancy is uncommon cause. This is a case report of a woman who is suffering from secondary infertility with a previous history of 2 RPL. Aim: This case study was done to evaluate the efficacy of Ayurvedic Shamana therapy, Nitya Rechana Karma, Matra Basti, and Nasya for the management of Garbhsravi Vandhya.
Method: A female patient of age 29 years came to OPD of PTSR, ITRA in oct 2020 and was diagnosed as Garbhsravi Vandhya(RPL). Result: within 6 months of treatment patient conceived. And delivered a healthy male baby. Conclusion: Ayurveda has better treatment options for infertility concerning RPL in the form of Shaman therapy.
