Abstract

EFFECT OF ANETHUM SOWA L. ON POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME

ABSTRACT

Poly Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a complex disorder affecting 4-20 % of women in their reproductive age and related to ovarian dysfunction, characterized by menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenism, obesity, anxiety, depression and followed by infertility. In Ayurveda, these symptoms are found under various feminine conditions, caused by vitiated Vata and Kapha. In modern treatment they only have hormonal preparations which have their own effects along with side effects, upon a woman’s normal physiology like weight gain, changes in blood pressure, cysts in reproductive organs, chances of carcinoma and subsequently other symptoms. Henceforth, to prevent side effects, changes in blood pressure and subsequently on other systems, it may reoccurrence and cause untreatable conditions. hence to prevent these side effects Ayurveda offers many herbal
formulations without any side effects and a more significant curative nature herb called Shatpushpa (Anthem sowa) is one of them. It has a miraculous effect on menstrual irregularities, achieving follicular growth and weight reduction with no reoccurrence. Therefore this article aims to describe the role of Shatpshpa Churna on PCOS-related symptoms and its management through the Ayurveda regime.
