FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF GASTRORETENTIVE FLOATING TABLET

ABSTRACT
Among the various approaches, the floating drug delivery system is offers the most effective, simple and practical approach to achieve increased gastric residence as compared to other methods. oral control release drug delivery system can be classified as into two broad groups: 1] Single unit dosage form; Ex: tablets 2] Multiple unit dosage form Ex: capsule Floating drug delivery system is the most common route of the drug delivery because the easy administration, patient compliance and flexibility in the formulations. To prolong residence time of dosage forms within gastrointestinal tract until all drug is released at desired rate is one of the real challenges for oral controlled release drug delivery system gastroretentive drug delivery system includes following floating tablets formulation: famotidine, ranitidine HCL, tizanidine hydrochloride, metformin HCL.
