It examines new research that ties changes in the gut microbiota to the pathophysiology of a number of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression. The study also emphasizes how focusing on the gut-brain axis during the drug development process for mental health conditions may have therapeutic benefits. This abstract highlights the importance of the gut-brain axis in forming innovative therapeutic approaches and advances our understanding of its involvement in mental illnesses by clarifying the intricate interactions between the gut and the central nervous system.
