ABSTRACT Mouth dissolving oral films (MDOFs) have emerged as a promising and innovative drug delivery system over the past decade. These thin, flexible films are designed to dissolve rapidly in the oral cavity, delivering medications in a convenient and patient-friendly manner. This review article explores the development, formulation, advantages, challenges, and future prospects of MDOFs as a drug delivery platform. These thin, rapidly dissolving films have gained prominence due to their patient-centric advantages, including ease of use, enhanced bioavailability, and rapid onset of action.
