ABSTRACT

Research has been conducted on the antioxidant activity of secondary metabolites of mangosteen (Gracinia mangostana Linn) leaf endophytic fungi as a producer of antioxidant compounds. This study aims to obtain isolates of endophytic fungi that are in mangosteen leaves, find outthe chemical content of secondary metabolites of endophytic fungi and obtain antioxidant activity data using the DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl) method. The stages of this research include isolation of endophytic fungi, production of secondary metabolites of endophytic fungi and continued with phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity test with DPPH method. This study shows the morphology of endophytic fungi in the form of dense cotton with flat colony edges, and endophytic fungi have branched hyphae. And the results of phytochemical screening test showed flavanoid (+) saponin (+). From the results of measuring the antioxidant activity of secondary metabolite extracts of mangosteen leaf endophytic fungi
(Garcinia mangostana L.) with the DPPH method obtained IC50 of 16,709.44 g/ml and gallic acid solution of 2,594 g/ml. The antioxidant activity of secondary metabolites of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) endophytes includes weak antioxidants and cannot be an alternative or antioxidant-producing solution.

Keywords: Gracinia mangostana Linn, Endophytic fungi, Antioxidant.
