Usha Sharma, Somveer Singh*, Sheenam Rani, Shuchi Mitra and Khem Chand Sharma

ABSTRACT

Kala is the unique, unavoidable and causative factor of all types of effects. Kala is opined to be one of the Anayathasiddha Nimittakarana (T.S. Laksanagrantha / 24) i.e. dispensability of Kala is considered in the production of an effect. It is described as Anayathasiddha Nimitta Karana, means no action is possible without the causative association of Kala. That’s why, Ayurveda being the science of life, gives huge emphasis on the concept of Kala. The concept of Kala has been revolutionized in order to utilize it in the management of diseases. Bheshaja and Kala relationship is explored in various shades by the ancient Acharyas. This transition is evident when Kala is put forth as one of the Vyadhi Hetu (C. Su. 1/.54), Parinama is the synonym given to Kala by Charaka (C. Su. 11/42) as well as Duspariharyatva (C. Vi. 3/10) confers inevitability on Kala as far as the production of any effect is concerned. Acharya Vagbhatta has stated that Kalo Bhaishajya Yoga Krt (A. S. Su. 1/45), which means Kala fulfills the aim of administration of Bheshaja. In accordance, Acharya Charaka says that Bheshaja given at appropriate Kala is more efficacious than one given at inappropriate Kala. The purpose of present article is to explore notions of Aushadha Sevana Kaala and feasibility of Kaala.
