ABSTRACT
Triclosan is a nonionic chemical compound that has significant antiseptic, antiplaque and antimicrobial effects. antiseptic with antimicrobial activities against a wide variety of oral bacteria and fungi. It reduces the formation of dental plaque by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis in bacteria. Triclosan chewable toothpaste tablets (400mg) were prepared by wet granulation method. Tablets were evaluated based on parameters including as thickness, weight variation, Friability, Hardness, carr's index, tapped density, Hausner's ratio, Drug content, Disintegration and Foamability. Drug-excipient compatibility was assessed by using FTIR analysis. Result of all parameters were said to be in standard limits.
Keywords: Dental plaque, Triclosan, Chewable toothpaste tablets, FT-IR spectroscopy.
