Abstract

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT ADAPTABLE SCALABLE AND SECURITY FRAMEWORK IN HEALTHCARE DOMAIN USING BLOCKCHAIN AND MONGODB

*Abeda Begum Mahammad and Prof. Dr. Rajeev Kumar

ABSTRACT

With the advent of eHealth systems and digitalization across the healthcare industry has emerged with the requirement of huge data growth and infrastructure scalability to store and maintain Electronic Health Records data digitally. Healthcare data is generated by health gadgets and smart applications with patient health monitoring information on a daily basis, patients’ diagnostics, preventive, and treatment procedures, drug innovation, and medical research programs. This enormous data growth requires scalable and cost-effective storage systems for storing, updating, and retrieving the data with accurate performance and utmost security. Often, the cost associated with data storage for primary databases, backup systems, disaster recovery sites, replication, analytical, and business intelligence systems is too high. In this era of technological innovation, Big data tools (Apache Hadoop and MongoDB) made remarkable improvements in data storage, mining, analytics, and reporting systems by reducing storage costs and improving the efficiency of hardware and software resources. Inexpensive hard disk drive usage with Big data tools provides the maximum efficiency with disk space usage to optimize storage costs with high data availability and scalability for healthcare systems. Big data tools and technologies provide cost- effective and profitable data storage systems compared with traditional systems by providing horizontal scalability with clustering technology. Blockchain technology is popular among financial systems and can provide high security with healthcare data where patient’s personal information is very sensitive. There is extensive research available on Blockchain Technology but there is a lot of research yet to be done to store and maintain this enormously growing critical healthcare data with inexpensive drives using HDFS, Blockchain, and MongoDB. This paper intends to design a framework and implement it as an adaptable and scalable solution to store and maintain healthcare data on inexpensive hard drives using Blockchain and MongoDB with Hadoop Distributed File Systems.
