NASAL VACCINE: A NOVEL APPROACH FOR DRUG DELIVERY

ABSTRACT
This review aims to collecting information available in existing literature, both online and offline, on the details about nasal anatomy, nasal physiological factors, including their merits, challenges, physicochemical properties, nasal vaccine delivery system covering replicating and non-replicating delivery system. This review also gives the information about marketed preparations of nasal vaccine and drugs with nasal formulation available in market. It also covers different dosage forms of vaccine through nasal route. Nasal route of
vaccine has been shown excellent systemic bioavailability and protection against gastric enzymes as compared to oral and parenteral route. It is the most perfect technique of immunization due to it reach in plasma cell, T cell, B cell and stimulates both mucosal adaptive and antigen-specific systemic immune responses. Nasal drug delivery is the most relevant novel option for vaccine delivery as it fulfill all criterias.
