The nasal septum is responsible for the nose's outward appearance and is crucial to airflow in the nasal cavity. The medical treatment options in modern medical science are decongestants, antihistaminics, and nasal steroids. There is only temporary relief from symptoms after using them, and the rate of reoccurrence of symptoms is very high. Repeated use may create a vicious cycle with many side effects. Objective of present study is to analyze the literature related to role of Jala Neti in Nasanaha (Deviated Nasal Septum) Method: To
comprehend role of Jala Neti in nasanaha numerous Ayurvedic texts, various medical research databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Ayush Portal, and other national research databases are used. Discussion: Nearly all of the Ayurvedic classics have an explanation of Nasa Roga that includes Nasa Pratinaha or Nasanaha. According to the classics, Nasa Pratinaha is a condition where Udana Vayu becomes surrounded (Aavrata) by Kapha Dosha and vitiates its own location (Swa Marga Vaigunya), resulting in obstruction in the Ucchwasamarga and difficulties in breathing. Jala-neti with lukewarm water and salt is recommended in it and showed good effects since it is Urdhwajatrugata vyadhi (illness above the collar bone area). Conclusion: Jala Neti may be effective in management of nasanaha. It is economic, safe and can be used at home with minimal training.
