Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF TOOLS OF PRAKRITI ASSESSMENT IN NEONATES - A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY PROTOCOL ARTICLE

ABSTRACT

Background:- In Ayurveda, assessing Prakriti (bodily constitution) is one of the ten most important procedures in clinical assessment, even in neonates. A scale to assess Prakriti in neonates could be an easier way of clinical use. The current study intends to evaluate concepts for neonates using subjective criteria. Aim of the present study is to assess the Prakriti of neonates by developing the tools in a validated questionnaire. Objectives are to create a validated comprehensive proforma for assessing Prakriti in neonates using psychosomatic and neurological characteristics based on the principles of Ayurveda. Materials & Methods:- A comprehensive Prakriti Assessment Scale will be prepared by gathering an extensive set of distinctive traits/predictors for Prakriti assessment which will be validated by the beneficiaries. Parents of each neonate will be interviewed with this questionnaire and their answers will be recorded in the scale with a specific score. Results:- The data will be properly scrutinized by using co-efficient correlation method. The results will be depicted in the form of tables and considered to draw conclusion. Discussion:- Prakriti assessment in neonates is a difficult task in clinical Paediatrics. Developing a user friendly and validated scale will be a significant contribution to Prakriti assessment, especially in neonates.
