ABSTRACT

As environmental properties changes it has also impact on our body i.e. it influences our Tridosha constitution. Therefore our body should adapt to environmental changes without disturbing the balance of our Tridosha i.e. Dosha Samyata (equilibrium). Ayurveda has always emphasized at maintaining health and preventing the disease. Hence main aspect of Ayurveda is preventive aspect of the body which can be achieved by properly following the regimens which are mentioned in classical text of Ayurveda. For this purpose Acharyas has mentioned Dinacharya (Daily Regimen), Ritucharya (Regimen to be followed according to season), Ratricharya (Night Regimen), Achara Rasayana, Sadvritta (Good conduct) etc for the maintenance of health. Ayurveda has mentioned Six Ritus (season) i.e. Shishira, Vasanta, Greeshma comes under Uttaryana or Aadana Kala and Varsha, Sharad and Hemanta comes under Dakshinayan or Visarga Kala. Features of all Ritus, Aahara (Diet) Vihara (Lifestyle) according to changing Ritu are explained in our classical text of Ayurveda under the concept of “Ritucharya”. Change in Ritu (Season), leads to disturbance in the Doshas which has its adverse effect on human body. Here, the Varsha Ritu (Monsoon season) which is one of the Ritus of Dakshinayan, during this season the body is more susceptible to imbalance in Doshas i.e. Dosha Vaishamya due to changes in temperature, humidity and other environmental factors. It is important to take extra care during this season has Agni Bala and Sharira Bala is weak leading to low immunity, making prone to many diseases related to digestions and waterborne diseases. Main aim of this article is to make people aware concerning the methods to live in accordance with the environment. In this review article, the characteristics, various regimens in Aahara (Diet), Vihara (Lifestyle Changes), along with the procedures which should be followed in Varsha Ritu are thoroughly reviewed.
