Abstract

ETIOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF DADRU KUSHTHA W.S.R. TO TINEA CORPORIS: A LITERARY REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Since the time of the Vedas, Ayurveda has placed a high priority on skin disorders. In recent year, Twak Vikar are common and more so frequent in the elder age. There is definite increase in its incidence especially, in the tropical region and developing countries like India due to various reasons like unhygienic environmental condition, poverty, poor sanitation, illiteracy, malnutrition, improper skin care etc. The patient of skin diseases are additionally prone to experience physical, emotional and socio- economic embarrassment in the society due to disfigured appearance. The Twak are afflicted by an illness called Dadru, which manifests as Kandu, Raga, Mandal and Pidika. It is a kapha-pitta pradhana and the symptom are quite similar to those of Tinea infection. Consumption of Ati Amlalavana sevana, Ati Snigdha sevana and Ati drava ahara sevana as well as subject taking Dadhi and Matsya with Kshira are the reasons of Dadru Kushtha. This condition is brought on by the aggravation of Pitta and Kapha Dosha,which results in disorder on the skin. Its population is at danger of several Dermatophytic illnesses due to the hot and humid climate.
