ABSTRACT
Background: Human chorionic gonadotropin(hCG) is a hormone produced primarily by syncytiotrophoblastic cells of the placenta during pregnancy. The hormone helps to maintain the pregnancy by stimulating the corpus luteum. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is the most severe iatrogenic complication of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation for assisted reproduction. Ovulation induction by gonadotropin stimulation and human chorionic gonadotropin administration in infertile women Causes OHSS.
Keywords: Ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS), Chorionic gonadotropin(hCG).
