CONTROLLED EVALUATION OF EFFECT OF BHUDHATRYADI YOGA IN PRAMEHA VIZ-A-VIZ TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS

ABSTRACT
Diabetes Mellitus is a burning health problem and becoming challenge for all the health sciences. This study was conducted to evaluate the blood sugar lowering property & other antidiabetic effects of Bhudhatryadi Yoga and to compare it with the standard drug Metformine. Bhudhatryadi Yoga is described in Yog Ratnakar Samhita under Prameha chikitsadhikar and its contents are Bhumyamalaki and Marich in 5:1 proportion. This is an open randomized control study for the period of 12 weeks. 40 confirmed cases of Prameha were selected randomly. The trial group (20pts) received Bhudhatryadi churna 6 gm tid & Control group (20pts)
received Tab. Metfomin 250 mg bid. In both the group effect of drugs on symptoms of Prameha showed significant results, however trial drug proved to be effective on Daurbalya and Pipasatipravrutti than control group. Percentage of relief in symptoms was 70.85% in trial group which was 58.99% in Control group. In trial group significant reduction in LDL & Urine sugar values were noted apart from reduction in BSL levels in both groups. This study concluded that, Bhudhatryadi Churna is effective in relieving the symptoms of Prameha without any adverse effects moreover it had improved the feeling of well-being during the treatment.
