Abstract

TO PERFORM QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS

Nish Patel*, Rushi Patel, Naiya Patel, Dr. Vidhi Kotadiya and Mr. Sumit Sarvaiya

ABSTRACT

The nutritional significance and potential health advantages of calcium make its determination in milk crucial. The quantity and presence of calcium in milk was determined in this study using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The qualitative approach used chemical test, whereas the quantitative approach used Complexometric Titration. The precision and accuracy of the two approaches were contrasted. This work comprises of 9 different samples for quantitative test for calcium, in which milk such as full fat cow & buffalo milk, low fat milk, raw milk powder milk, flavoured milk, camel milk are used. Qualitative tests for sulphates, nitrates, starch, cellulose, cane sugar, and chlorine were also carried out on milk samples. Analytical methods and several chemical reagents were used to conduct these tests. The study's findings demonstrated that the quantitative method was superior than the qualitative method for determining the amount of calcium in milk in terms of accuracy and precision. However, it was shown that the qualitative approach was helpful for quickly assessing the calcium level of milk. The findings of the additional qualitative tests carried out on milk samples varied according to the presence or absence of specific chemicals in the samples. Overall, this study offers useful knowledge on different qualitative tests that may be used to analyse milk samples and the determination of calcium in milk. These tests outcomes can contribute to ensuring the safety and excellence of milk products intended for human consumption.
