Sharuti Sharma*, Shuchi Mitra, Usha Sharma and Khem Chand Sharma

ABSTRACT

Wound healing, a natural process that occurs in the human body and is consists of three overlapping phases: inflammation, tissue creation, and remodeling. This process encompasses several cellular and molecular phases before it is to be finished, with the last stages being nearly identical to the beginning stage. The majority of wounds are caused by bacterial colonization, either from the normal flora of skin or pathogens from other parts of the body. The most prevalent bacteria that cause infections are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyrogens and Enterococci. Many of them have a high antibiotic resistance rate and the ability to cause serious postoperative complications causing an exigency of effective treatment to overcome these problems. Sushruta, a renowned surgeon was the first to explain and put into practise the idea of Vrana ropana (wound healing). The evolution of Multi-Drug Resistant stains has caused drug producers to turn their attention in recent years to herbal formulations which have been used in Classical practice since ages. The work that is being done around the world has now developed and was evidence-based proof. In Ayurvedic classical text, Acharyas have described various drugs for cleaning and healing of Vrana. One such formulation is Vrana Shodhak Lepa mentioned by Acharya Sharangdhar. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the antibacterial activity of each ingredient of Vrana Shodhak Lepa i.e., Nimba, Haridra, Daruharidra, Mulethi, Trivritta, Saindhav Lavana, Tila, and Ghrita. All contents of Lepa contributes to Vrana Shodhaka, Vrana Ropaka, Vednasthapak, Shothhar, and Dahashamak properties.

Keywords: Mulethi, Trivritta, Saindhav Lavana, Tila, and Ghrita. All contents of Lepa contributes to Vrana Shodhaka, Vrana Ropaka, Vednasthapak, Shothhar, and Dahashamak properties.
