Abstract

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF VATA-PITTA PACHYAMANA VRANASHOPHA W.S.R INFLAMMATORY SWELLING/CELLULITIS: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Vranashopha is Pruthu (thick), Grathitha (elevated mass), Sama Vishama (even and uneven), Twak Mamsa Sthayi residing in the skin and muscles, having accumulation of Doshas and Ekadeshothith (arising in one part of the body/localised).[1] In this case initially managed with use of IV antibiotic[2] injection Durataz 4.5 gm for 5 days followed by Virechana Karma due to Ushna, Tikshna and Sukshma Guna it reaches the Anusrotas and break the Dhathugata Mala and vitiated Dosha into micro form and quick excretion of Dhathugata Mala from the body through Adobhaga[3] (Purishavaha Srotas). A case of 65-years of male presented with complaints of swelling over the medial aspect of right thigh region approx 15x10 cm since 3 months associated with pricking type pain and burning sensation. Vranashopha was cured after 30 days. Cellulitis is spreading inflammation of subcutaneous tissue and fascial planes, infection may follow a small scratch or wound or incision or insect/snake/scropian bite. More commonly seen in diabetic, immune-compromised, old age in lower limb, upper limb and scrotum because of subcutaneous tissue is lax.[4]
