ABSTRACT

Background: The present study deals with synthesis, characterization and antibacterial activity of a series of o-amino pyridine derivatives that are synthesized using o-amino pyridine and aromatic ketone derivatives. o-amino pyridine derivatives have shown significant antibacterial activity. Method: The preparation of o-amino pyridine derivatives by the condensation reaction of o-amino pyridine and aromatic ketone derivatives with ethanol. In this investigation Title, synthesized six new o-amino pyridine derivatives and evaluated them for antibacterial activity by using the disc diffusion method. o-amino pyridine derivatives were synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR spectroscopy, Mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Result: All elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, Mass spectrometry values were found to be prominent. The results of antimicrobial screening, indicate that Schiff bases show significant activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli while compound AD1, AD2 and AD6 were found to be more active against all tested bacterial strains. Conclusion: The present work involves pharmacological evaluation of o-amino pyridine derivatives. The outcomes obtained from the work are significant for future research focusing on examining potential options for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Keywords: Schiff bases, o-aminopyridine, antibacterial activity.
