A REVIEW ON MEDICINES FOR AAN MALADU (MALE INFERTILITY) IN SIDDHA CLASSICAL LITERATURES

ABSTRACT

Siddha system is one of the India’s oldest traditional healing systems of medicine that originated in southern part of India. Yugi muni had done a lot of herbal contribution to the siddha system, classifying diseases into 4448. AAN MALADU is one among them. In Siddha system of medicine, Aanmaladu was compared to Male Infertility.[4] Infertility is the inability of a sexually active, non – contraception couple to achieve pregnancy in 1 year. There was a time when infertility was only limited to women. Male infertility is a global problem in the field of reproductive health. Siddhars gifted us a lot of medicinal treasures to treat human illness in Siddha Classical literatures. In this review, we have Collected various medicines for AAN MALADU (Male infertility) and tried to list out the types of internal and external medicines along with Book name, Types of ingredients (Herbal, Metal, Mineral), Dosage, Adjuvant, Page Number, Different indication related to Aan maladu. This review showed that there are 145 medications found in Siddha classical literatures (15). Internal medications (137) for Aan maladu are more in number than the external medications (8). This review paper may provide a wider chance of selecting Internal medicine for Aan maladu (Male Infertility) from lower to higher order medicines (based on lifespan). The goal of this literature review is to bring out a holistic approach for Aan maladu (Male Infertility) patient by implementing the overall regimen used in Siddha system which will pave a better way for preventing and managing Aan maladu (Male Infertility).
