FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF NATURAL ANTI-ACNE CREAM

ABSTRACT

Acne is define as multi factorial chronic inflammatory disease condition of pilosebaceous units. Propionibacterium acnes and staphylococcus epidermidis are considered as the major skin problem that causes the formation of acne. Although acne did not pose serious threat to general health, it is one of the most socially distressing conditions especially for adolescents. In the present study, poly herbal anti acne cream was prepared using extracts of the plants lemon grass, aloe vera and turmeric along with base materials. The property have been reported in the literature having good anti- microbial, anti- oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Among the 5 preparations thepreparations 3 and 4 shows great results in evaluation. The major objective is to prepare a cream with natural herbal extracts and minimize the side effects of the chemical cosmetics.
