Abstract

CLINICAL EFFICACY OF AMRIT MANJIRI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TAMAK SHWASA

ABSTRACT

Tamaka Shwasa is a common disease that is presently prominent and is causing an individual increasing amounts of annoyance and discomfort in his daily routines. Tamaka Shwasa is a condition that originates in the Pitta sthana and is vitiated by Vata and Kaphadosha. Tamaka Shwasa is a troublesome major disorder of Pranvaha srotas and more over when neglected or improperly managed, may lead to a series of complications in due course. It is a Swatantra Vyadhi & having its own etiology, pathology & management. It is mentioned as Yaapya Vyadhiie., chronic in nature. Nidanaparivarjan, Kapha–Vataghan, Ushna, Vatanuloman drugs, Shamana and Brumhana Chikitsa, Samshodhan (by Vamana, Virechana, Dhoompana and Nasya karma) and Rasayana Chikitsaare indicated in Tamaka Shwasa. Shamana Aushadhihaving Vatakaphahar properties have been advised to remove the obstruction of Kapha, which hampers normal Gatiof Prana Vayu. Amrit Manjiri drugs having Vatakaphaharproperties subsides the cough, vomiting, hoarseness of voice, Aadhmana and Udavarta. Total 30 patients diagnosed as Tamaka Shwasa of any socio-economic status, age group of 20-60 years and irrespective of sex of all ethnic origins are randomly selected. The total effect of treatment on objective criteria PEFR, BHT, CE, FVC, FEV1 and FEV1% provided statistically highly significant (P<0.001) results.
