EVALUATION OF ANTI-STRESS ACTIVITY ON HEMIGRAPIS COLERATA EXTRACT

ABSTRACT

The present study was carried out to investigate the anti-stress activity of Hemigraphis colerata in mice. The anti stress activity were evaluated using forced swimming test & tail suspension test. Extracts at a dose of 200 and 400mg/kg orally were tested and the activity was compared with a standard drug diazepam at a dose of 2mg/kg by oral route. Results showed that the ethanol extracts of Hemigraphis colerata showed a decrease in the immobility time in both tail suspension test (TST) and forced swim test (FST). The results from the study indicate a positive response towards anti stress activity.
