Pooja D. Pawar*, Nakul P. Kathar, Gajanan S. Sanap and Gangasagar H. Gadekar

ABSTRACT

The nail is body structure. Nail plate is accountable for penetration of drug across it as a result of it's enough the Becomes troublesome, entirely a fraction of topical drug Penetrates across it. So the effective Therapeutic concentration is not achieve. To overcome these problems mechanical and chemical approaches were studied... In spite of using these approaches topical permeability was limited by its barrier properties. Approaches such as Iontophoresis, Ultrasound mediated drug delivery, Etching were investigated. Novel nail plate made up of human hair keratin was also investigated as an alternative model for studying flux across nail. Topical drug delivery system is better as compared to oral drug delivery because of less systemic side effects, better adherence and localized action. In topical route, tissue concentration is higher which is mainly needed for nail or skin infection. Topical therapy is desirable in the treatment of nail disease. The main purpose of the research was to provide a medicament over the nail for the extended period of time.
