Abstract
PROGRESSION OF GOUT: A REVIEW
Joginder Rakesh Kumari*
ABSTRACT
It is a form of inflammatory arthritis that is caused when small crystals build inside and around the joints and this condition is known as gout. It results in sudden, excruciating pain and swelling. The progression of a gout attack is indicated by worsening pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in the infected joints. Additionally, “recurrent or more frequent gout attack with longer duration, the involvement of more joints, and the presence of tophy” may contribute to the disease’s overall progression. It typically gets worse without treatment. Being overweight is one of the key contributing factors responsible for gout progression. This condition is much more common in males in comparison to females.
