ABSTRACT

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of topical tacrolimus and its combination with multivitamins in the treatment of vitiligo and also the effect of the condition on a patient's quality of life. Method: A retro - prospective study was conducted in the Santhiram General Hospital, Nandyal, from November 2021 to April 2022, in dermatology department. Patients with vitiligo were enrolled in the study, and their patch size was compared before and after treatment for a period of more than 6 months. Through vitiligo questionnaire forms and a vitiligo impact scale, their feedback was captured. Results: Regarding the 110 patients' total vitiligo investigation, the therapy with Vitiligo was reduced patch size with tacrolimus and its combination with multivitamins in approximately 88.38% patients, while 11.18% patients are seen as the patch size grows. While 40.58% of patients who received only tacrolimus treatment had a rise in patch size, and 59.36% of patients saw a decrease in the size of their vitiligo patches. Conclusion: Our research led us to the conclusion that vitiligo affects both genders equally. In terms of the method of treatment prescription, topical tacrolimus combined with multivitamins was more effective in reducing the size of the vitiligo patch than topical tacrolimus alone. Patients were psychologically affected by the illness; they felt ashamed, forlorn, and mistakenly believed that the illness was incurable. As a pharmacist, I educated each patient about their illness and offered advice on how to change their lifestyle.

Keywords: Vitiligo, Tacrolimus, multivitamins, vitiligo impact, vitiligo types.
