ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SHATYADI VATI AN AYURVEDIC FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
Shirah (brain) is known as “Uttamanga” (Best organ) because many specialized sense organs are located. Nasa (Nose) is an organ that is termed as “Ghranindrya”, as it is a specialized organ that does work of Gandha (smell). Vataja pratishyaya is Vata nimitaja Vyadhi.[1] Shatyadi Churana is an Ayurvedic formulation mentioned in Yogratnakara in the management of Pratishyaya.[2] The present study was undertaken with the aim to modify Shatyadi Churna into Vati form and to develop the physicochemical profile of the final product. Pharmaceutical analysis of Shatyadi Vati preparation was done according to API & protocol of drug testing of PLIM to standardize the formulation of Shatyadi Vati which is prepared by the classical method of Vati-Kalpana and excipients were added as per the Ayurvedic
pharmacopoeia of India. Shatyadi Churna is a combination of Herbal oral formulation mentioned in Ayurvedic classics. The formulation is useful in Sneezing, Rhinorrhea, Dryness of Oral cavity & Nasal obstruction.
