ABSTRACT
The use of numerous medicinal plants from the ancient system of
medicine for the treatment of various illnesses has attracted increasing
interest over the past few years. Currently, sophisticated frameworks
and innovative medical practises are being used to explore and
manufacture plant-based medications. The family Combretaceae
includes the huge, widespread or scandent climbing shrub known as
Calycopteris floribunda Lam. Ayurveda, Folk, and Unani are a few of
the traditional Asian medical systems that use Calycopteris floribunda
Lam. Forest dwellers commonly referred as a lifesaver, these people
often use to quench their thirst. In Ayurveda, plant components are
used to treat conditions including leprosy, diarrhoea, ulcers, vomiting,
jaundice, skin diseases, wound healing, and cytotoxic. It is hepatoprotective, antiviral, and
antimicrobial and is used to treat several diseases. Calycopteris floribunda Lam. leaves were
examined in a variety of solvent extracts, including petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl
acetate, methanol, and aqueous for phytochemical analysis. Terpenoids, sterols, alkaloids,
and flavonoids were all present in Calycopteris floribunda leaves. A conceptual overview of
the pharmacognostic, phytochemical, and pharmacological profiles of Calycopteris
floribunda Lam is provided in this review article.
