Abstract

ROLE OF APAMARGA KSHARA IN FISTULA IN ANO

ABSTRACT

Anorectal diseases are affecting the individuals since the mankind started and mentioning of the guda marga roga in the earlier centuries text do find. The concept here discussed and analyzed for the study is Fistula in Ano (Bhagandar Roga). The study conducted at varies places gives the importance of the Kshara Sutra prepared from varies herbs being considered best in the treatment of Fistula in Ano. the Kshara sutra being the prime modalities in the management of the Bhagandara- Fistula in Ano. The Kshara sutra prepared from the Apamarga Kshara sutra is considered best in the various studies conducted. Apamarga, also called Prickly chaff flower, Chirchita, Apang, or Devil's horsewhip, is a powerful healing plant in Ayurveda. Apamarga is an annual or perennial herb with a small, straight stem and a woody base. It grows to a height of about 2 metres. It has purple stems that are simple, pointy, and ribbed. the being of the ghruta application in that proves effective. The study has been made to consider the effect of the Jatyadi Ghruta and EUSOL which has been widely used for the dressing of the wounds. Kshara is a caustic, alkaline in nature obtained from the ashes of medicinal plants. It is a milder procedure compared to surgery and thermal cautery. It is the superior most among the sharp and subsidiary instruments because of performing excision, incision and scraping. It is versatile, because even such places that are difficult in approach by ordinary measures can be treated by Kshara Karma. Kshara Karma is useful as the substitute of surgical instruments, because they can be used safely on the patients who are afraid of surgery.
