ABSTRACT
An arrhythmia is an abnormality of heart’s rhythm. It may beat too slowly, too quickly, or irregularly. These abnormalities range from minor inconvenience or discomfort to a potentially fatal problem. This is more common in men than women. The estimated prevalence is lower in women (373 per 100,000) than in men (596 per 100,000). Arrhythmias are more common in people who are aged 60 years and older, in young adults between 19-40 ages rarely affected, adults above 41-60 ages are commonly affected. Age positively correlates with an increasing risk of cardiac problems including arrhythmias. Heart arrhythmia treatment may include medications, implanted devices, or surgery to control fast, slow, or irregular heartbeats. Treating heart arrhythmia with Radiofrequency ablation has 95-98% chances of cure.
RF ablation is the first-line option in the management of arrhythmia. Electrical cardioversion is the treatment that uses electricity to shock the heart back into normal rhythm while you are anaesthetised or sedated. Beta blockers can be used to slow down your heart rate, and improve blood flow through your body. It includes metoprolol, propranolol, atenolol. Atropine can be used to increase heart rate. It is the first-line drug treatment for bradycardia. It includes dopamine, epinephrine, glycopyrrolate. Of all anti-arrhythmic agents, dovetailed and amiodarone have been proven safe in patients with heart failure. Nutraceuticals contain nutrition for health and pharmaceuticals remedy for sickness. It includes nutraceuticals like wenxin keli (WXKL), coenzyme (Co Q10) ginger, vitamin C.
