Solid medicaments may be administered orally like tablets, capsules, pills, powders etc and liquid dosage form like syrups. Tablets are solid dosage form containing medicaments with or without excipients. Tablets are prepared by compressing a drug with or without diluents. Capsules are the unit solid dosage form in which one or more medicaments are enclosed in a water soluble, biodegradable shell made up of gelatin. The shell is normally made from gelatin or other suitable polymeric material and results in a simple, tasteless, odorless, elegant, easy-to-swallow dosage
form without need for a secondary coating step Syrup is a condiment that is a thick, viscous liquid consisting primarily of a solution of sugar in water, containing a large amount of dissolved sugars but showing little tendency to deposit crystals. Its consistency is similar to that of molasses. The viscosity arises from the multiple hydrogen bonds between the dissolved sugar, which has many hydroxyl (OH) groups. Simple syrup I.P contain 66.7%w/w sucrose in purified water(100g).
