Abstract

HERBAL TOOTHPASTE FOR ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY: A REVIEW ON

ABSTRACT

Toothpaste is commonly used. Toothpaste is generally used for cleaning of mouth. It is also used to treat more disorders of teeth. Many dental Surgeon recommend to use toothpaste to treat disorder like sensitivity, Chronic gingivitis etc. Herbal toothpastes can be prepared using different herbal extract of many crude drugs having antibacterial, antimicrobial activity. Teeth Herbal formulation of toothpastes are prepared using herbs like ginger, Clove, peppermint commercial Herbal toothpastes. Commercial herbal toothpastes including Himalaya, Meswak, and Dent County have all had their quality assessed in the current study. The goal of the current research is to develop herbal toothpaste using plant extracts such as neem, tulshi leaves, and guava leaves, as well as other substances like camphor, honey, ginger, lemon oil extract, neem stem and bark, babul leaves, guava leaves, and kalmi bark, among others.[1] All of the examined commercially available herbal tooth pastes and lab-made herbal toothpaste met the requirements outlined by the Bureau of Indian Standards.[2] The preparation, assessment, and comparison of Lab Made Herbal Toothpaste is the major goal.[3] The formulation of herbal tooth was assessed for the other criteria of colour, spreadability, foamability, and particle determination of shard and edge abrasives. Neem, Clove, Betel, Peppermint, Turmeric, and Guava are six plant samples used in this formulation that are typically used in traditional remedies. The created toothpastes underwent testing in accordance with Indian Standards. The toothpastes' antibacterial effectiveness was assessed.[4] Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial for people. The daily routine of a human being begins with mouth hygiene. Therefore, toothp aste is crucial to this process. To counteract some drawbacks of synthetic cleaning agents, many natural herbs might be used.[5]
