Abstract

A CASE REPORT ON CLINICAL PRESENTATION, LABORATORY PARAMETERS AND MONITORING OF INOTROPES IN PATIENT WITH SCORPION STING INDUCED MYOCARDITIS

ABSTRACT

Scorpion envenomation are common in rural areas, some scorpion bites are harmless but sometimes these are leads to serious clinical sequelae, including death. In some cases it is generally seen with a set of clinical manifestations, such as pain, numbness in the area of sting and also in serious cases present with involvement of vital organ systems like cardiovascular system and respiratory system leading to life threatening manifestations like acute pulmonary edema, cardiogenetic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome. In this case of 26-years old women who is the daily labourer in a rural area developed myocarditis with cardiogenic pulmonary edema following alleged scorpion bite, which was successfully managed with inotropes, oxygen supplementation and other supportive care.
