ABSTRACT
Among the next generation of antipsychotics, aripiprazole has a special mechanism of action which is the stabilisation of the dopamine system. According to some studies, the risk of extrapyramidal syndrome (EPS) with these antipsychotics is very low. Here is a case report of a 28-year-old female patient suffering from schizo-obsessive disorder who developed severe (EPS). In the form of marked rigidity, dropping saliva, body stiffness, tremors of hands, involuntary facial movements, anxiety, confusion, drowsiness, difficulty in sleeping, headache after receiving 20 mg of aripiprazole per day, this led to severe disturbance in her routine functions and the EPS disappeared after a week only when discontinuing the aripiprazole medication and administration of
anticholinergic drugs.
