THE ROLE OF BODY AND MIND IN DISEASES AND THEIR MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT
Physical health and emotional health are intimately intertwined in whats known as the mind body connection. Studies have also determined that stressful emotions decrease immunity by altering blood cell functions. In one study, researchers found that stress diminishes white blood cell response to infected cells and cancer cells. In addition, when individuals are stressed, they heal more slowly and vaccinations are less effective. Just as physical fitness helps our bodies to stay strong, mental fitness helps us to achieve and sustain a state of good mental health. Nurturing our mental health can also help us
combat or prevent the mental health problems that are sometimes associated with a chronic physical illness. The perfect balance of mind, body and soul is considered as complete health in Ayurveda. Even Ayurveda emphasizes its treatment modalities into three parts as satwawajay chikitsa, yuktivyapashray and daivyapashray chikitsa.
