ABSTRACT
Oral multi-unit modified-release dosage forms have always been a more effective therapeutic alternativeconventional or immediate-release unit dosage forms. As for the final dosage form, multiparticulatesare usually formulated into microspheres and filled into hard gelatincapsules. Microspheres got a lot attention not only for sustained release but also for drug targeting. In the future, they will find the central place of the microspherein the delivery of new drugs, especially in the sorting of diseased cells, diagnostics, genetic materials, targeted and effective medicinedelivery. The current aim of
this review is to study various aspects of microparticulate drug delivery system including method of formulation, evaluation and characterization.
